About Future Biogas
Future Biogas designs, develops, builds and operates anaerobic digestion (AD) plants in the UK. The plants convert locally grown rotational energy crops into biogas, which is upgraded to biomethane and injected into the national gas network. The process also yields biogenic CO2 and digestate, a nutrient-rich fertiliser. Project Carbon Harvest is described as the UK's first unsubsidised biomethane initiative.
Its customers include data centres, general manufacturers, heavy industry and sustainability consultants, as well as UK farms that supply crops to the plants. The company sells biomethane to corporate partners seeking to decarbonise heat and energy use without changing existing infrastructure. It also describes plans to integrate carbon capture and storage into its biogas process.
The company was incorporated in 2010 and is headquartered in Guildford, UK. It states that it operates 11 sites across the UK, with more in planning, and that its biomethane delivers more than 10% of the biomethane injected into the UK gas network. Its case studies include a biomethane plant built for AstraZeneca at Gonerby Moor, Lincolnshire.
