About Folkeuniversitetet

Folkeuniversitetet provides adult education in Norway, focused on workplace learning. Its offering covers structuring, developing and digitalising training, leadership development, trade certificates (fagbrev), Norwegian language courses and in-house training. Its non-profit part, Friundervisningen, runs Norwegian language courses and the Bergen test.

Its main customers are businesses and public sector organisations. They receive a free, non-binding two-hour consultation in which the company maps competence needs before proposing training. Courses are also offered to individuals, including adults seeking trade certificates.

The company is headquartered in Oslo and its legal entity, Folkeuniversitetet AS, was founded in 2024. The organisation traces its origins to 1864, when it started as Studenternes Forening for fri Undervisning with the aim that knowledge should not be reserved for a few.

Product: Adult education and corporate training: leadership development, trade certificates, Norwegian language courses and in-house workplace training.
