About Flocean
Flocean AS makes subsea desalination systems. Seawater is drawn from about 500 m depth, roughly 10 km offshore, and natural hydrostatic pressure powers the reverse osmosis process. The systems are modular: each pod produces up to 5,000 m³ per day and a system can scale to 10 pods.
Customers are coastal and island municipalities, industrial operations that need process water or cooling, and agricultural operations in water-stressed regions. Solutions are backed by long-term water purchase agreements with public and private partners.
Flocean was founded in 2024 as a demerger from FSubsea, a Norwegian family business. It is headquartered in Oslo, and its founder and CEO is Alexander Fuglesang. The company is backed by the venture capital firm Burnt Island Ventures.
Product: Modular subsea desalination pod systems (Flocean Deep) that produce fresh water from deep seawater using reverse osmosis.
