About Fassbinderei Schön Austria
Fassbinderei Schön produces wooden barrels and fermentation vats for fermenting and ageing red and white wine, and for storing vinegar and spirits. The range includes wine barrels of 500 to 1,000 litres, fermentation vats from 1,000 litres, barriques of 225 to 500 litres and distillation barrels of 5 to 200 litres. The company also makes a patented hybrid barrel.
Its customers are wineries, brewers and distillers. The company sells the barrels directly and offers product advice on selection. It also runs research projects on how wood affects wine.
The business was founded in 1933 as a family cooperage and is now run by the fourth generation of the family. It is based in Sitzenberg-Reidling, Austria, and built a new production hall in 2019. The company holds a sustainable forest management certificate and ISO 22000:2018 food safety certification. It is currently hiring a production manager for its wooden cask production and a woodworking craftsman, and it offers cooper apprenticeships.
