About Eet Hydrogen
EET Hydrogen is developing one of the first large-scale low carbon hydrogen production hubs in the UK, located at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex in Ellesmere Port. The project is part of HyNet, one of two initial Track 1 clusters for industrial decarbonisation selected by the UK Government. Its first plant, HPP1, was chosen by the government in March 2023, and a second plant, HPP2, launched its FEED stage in September 2023. The company was previously named Vertex Hydrogen and was rebranded as EET Hydrogen in 2023.
The company plans to sell low carbon hydrogen to industrial users in the North West, such as glass, chemicals and refining businesses, under supply and offtake agreements. The website cites over 30 customer agreements and partnerships with ENKA and SSE on hydrogen production. The initial phase is described as 1,350MW of hydrogen capacity, with a stated ambition of 4,000MW of low carbon hydrogen production by 2030.
EET Hydrogen was founded in 2021 and is headquartered in Ellesmere Port, England. It also lists a London location (Mayfair) for some roles. The company cites an expected investment of £1 billion+ in the North West and has advertised roles in commercial legal counsel and project management.
Product: Large-scale low carbon hydrogen production (HPP1 and HPP2 plants) supplied to industrial customers in the North West of England.
