Duckworth & Kent designs and manufactures reusable titanium ophthalmic surgical instruments, including forceps for cataract and other eye procedures. Duckworth & Kent was founded on 30 January 1959 as an engineering company in Hitchin and later moved to Baldock, where it is based today. It started manufacturing in titanium in 1972 and launched its own instrument brand in 1988. The company moved to a larger factory and offices in Baldock in 1999.
