Diakónia is the social service arm of the Hungarian Reformed Church, operating as the Református Szeretetszolgálat (Reformed Charity Service). It maintains institutions that provide residential and home-based care for elderly people, people with disabilities, children in child protection, people with addictions, psychiatric patients and homeless people, and it supports parish diaconia work with training, consulting and methodological guidance.

Its beneficiaries are the people served by its institutions and the parishes it supports. The organisation states that its institutions receive state support, and it also accepts donations, including the one-percent personal income tax designation and volunteering.

The website states that it maintains 51 church-founded institutions with 3,000 employees, helping 11,000 people. Institutions are listed in Budapest, Debrecen, Zalaegerszeg and Sajósernye, and the organisation also works with Reformed church bodies across the Carpathian Basin and with foreign diaconia organisations. Current job openings cover caregiving and nursing, therapy, psychology, kitchen, cleaning, maintenance and administration roles, as well as foster-parent recruitment.
