About Deutsches Zentrum für Astrophysik (DZA)
The Deutsches Zentrum für Astrophysik (DZA) is being established as a major research center for astrophysics, combining research with data science, digital infrastructure and technology development. Its work connects data from astronomical observatories and includes participation in international observatories.
The center collaborates with partners in science, industry and technology, and is funded by Germany’s BMFTR and the Free State of Saxony. Its planned facilities include a campus in Görlitz and the Low Seismic Lab in the Lausitz granite.
The build-up phase began in April 2023. DZA identifies Görlitz as its main site and lists a second site between Hoyerswerda, Kamenz and Bautzen; its current vacancies span research, technology and administration.
Product: Astrophysics research, an international astrophysics data center, and technology development.
