Company Shop Group

Company Shop Group takes surplus products that would otherwise be wasted, including mislabelled, short-shelf-life and damaged-packaging stock, and makes them fit to sell. It operates two arms: Company Shop, a network of member-only surplus supermarkets, and Community Shop, a social enterprise described as the UK's first social supermarket. The website states that it redistributes over 113 million items per year across multiple categories.

Customers are brands, retailers and manufacturers that send their surplus stock, which the website says is more than 800 in number. Surplus is sold to members at discounted prices in Company Shop stores, and Community Shop uses donated stock to support families. The company also offers surplus handling services, including site "waste walks" for businesses.

The website says the company has worked in surplus for over 50 years and is part of the Biffa group. Its job postings list a Head Office in Darton, South Yorkshire, and 16 open roles, mostly retail shift lead, retail assistant and community shop positions across England, plus warehouse and packing operations. Recent news items mention a new Community Shop in Bolton and the anniversary of the first Company Shop in Corby.
