About Celtic Renewables

Celtic Renewables produces bio-based acetone, butanol and ethanol using Acetone-Butanol-Ethanol (ABE) fermentation of by-products and waste. Its patented technology is positioned as a replacement for chemicals made from gas and oil, used in products such as skin creams, paints, cleaning products and medicines.

Customers are pharmaceutical companies, cosmetics and personal care brands, and speciality chemical manufacturers. The company supplies low-carbon, bio-based solvents and chemicals to help them reduce Scope 3 emissions, and cites 60%+ carbon savings for its bio-based chemicals.

The company was founded in 2011 and is registered in Scotland with its headquarters in Edinburgh. Production takes place at its Grangemouth plant. It has an apprenticeship programme with Forth Valley College and is currently recruiting for an accountancy modern apprenticeship in Grangemouth.
