About Blackford plants
Blackford Plants is a small, family-run production nursery in Čierny Brod, Slovakia. It grows perennials, herbs, ornamental shrubs and grasses, with about 500 cultivars on a 33-are site. Plants are potted in larger containers and grown partly in greenhouses used for propagation and final production.
Customers are garden architects, landscaping contractors and retail buyers. The company sells plants directly through retail sales and an order form, and offers project discounts on larger orders. Because of the pot size, plants are not shipped by courier; the nursery delivers orders itself once a week within 70 km of Čierny Brod, subject to a minimum order value.
The company was founded in 2024 by garden architect Zoltán Nagy and his wife, architect Martina Nagyová, who have worked in garden design and construction for more than 20 years. Each year new cultivars are added to the growing plan after testing in real conditions. The nursery also gives advice on plant selection.
