About Biomodal

biomodal develops the duet family of multiomic sequencing kits and analysis software, which read genetic variants and epigenetic methylation (5mC and 5hmC) from the same sample in a single sequencing run.

Its customers are life science and clinical researchers working on cancer, liquid biopsy, neurodegenerative disease and gene regulation. Products are sold as sequencing kits with analysis pipelines that run on workstations, HPC or cloud infrastructure.

The company was founded in 2012 and is registered in Saffron Walden, with its address given as Chesterford Research Park, Cambridge. It was formerly named Cambridge Epigenetix and rebranded as biomodal in 2023. Its 2021 funding round of $98 million is described on its website as funding for the duet multiomics technology.
