About Bio-VV

Bio-VV Oy operates a biogas plant in Kalajoki, Finland. The plant anaerobically digests slurry, biowaste and agricultural biomass to produce biogas, which can be used for heat and electricity or upgraded as vehicle fuel. The digestate left after processing is used as a fertiliser and soil improver.

Biogas can also be upgraded to biomethane for injection into the natural gas grid. In October 2025 the company signed a letter of intent with Kokkolan Energia Oy to market biomethane to the Kokkola industrial area.

The company was founded in 2022 and is headquartered in Kalajoki. The Ministry of the Environment granted a subsidy of about 6.5 million euro towards building the biogas plant in Kalajoki.

Product: Biogas and biomethane production from waste and biomass, plus digestate-based fertilisers and soil improvers.
