About Bienesis
BIENESIS develops La Canopée, a retractable cover for vineyards that unfolds over the vines against late spring frost, hail, sun scorch and washout of treatments. The cover folds into a 20 cm box integrated in the vine row, is powered by a solar panel, and is deployed from a smartphone app using plot sensors and agro-meteorological data.
Its customers are wine growers with exposed plots. Each project starts with a pre-diagnostic of the plots, after which the company sizes the installation, installs modules and sensors during the dormant season, and provides commissioning, training and a maintenance service.
BIENESIS was founded in 2024 as an independent company spun off from the Michelin Innovation Lab, and its registered seat is in Clermont-Ferrand. Trials ran on 15 plots with partner wine estates in 2024 to 2026, with independent scientific monitoring by IFV and Chambres d'agriculture. The company reports seed funding from VIVELYS, a subsidiary of the OENEO Group, and plans to extend the technology to berries, orchards and other trellis-grown crops.
