About Betmate

Betmate Ltd ran a consumer app for football fans that made betting social. Players entered pots, made Captain picks, built Fantasy sides and played Survivor (Last Man Standing) with other users.

The customers were football fans in Great Britain, and the app was licensed and regulated there by the Gambling Commission. Players paid into pots that were shared among participants, and the company said players won close to £2m in total.

Betmate was founded in 2020 and is registered in England and Wales, with its base in Liverpool. The app was closed on 1 June 2026; withdrawals were allowed until 31 August 2026. The company says its team continues through Engage Games, which builds and distributes games with betting operators.
