About Basecamp Vascular
Basecamp Vascular develops BCV Systems, active mechatronic guidewires for endovascular navigation. The system includes an electronic smart handle that places active tip deflection under physician control, shape memory alloy actuators for on-demand deflection, compatibility with a range of existing catheters, and a design prepared for future robotic-assisted procedures. The devices are under development and not available for sale.
The company's customers are interventional physicians and clinical partners working on endovascular procedures; it works closely with Fondation Rothschild Hospital. Founded in 2016, it originated from research at the Institute of Intelligent Systems and Robotics (ISIR) at Sorbonne University, CNRS and INSERM, and describes itself as a spin-off from that work.
The company is headquartered in Reims, France. It was selected twice under the France 2030 investment plan, through the i-Nov Innovation Competition (2022) and the Première Usine programme, to support development and industrialisation of the BCV Systems technology. The i-Nov project is also funded by the European Union under the NextGenerationEU France Relance plan.
