Baldertech

Baldertech AS designs, builds and sells the Balder electric wheelchair, produced at its factory at Kilemoen outside Hønefoss. The range includes the Junior, Finesse and Liberty models, with options such as a standing function and seat tilt. Each chair can be individually adapted to the user. The company has also announced that a Balder model with a standing function combined with a seat slider has been crash-tested and approved for use in a car.

Roughly half of the chairs reach Norwegian users through sales to NAV, the Norwegian welfare administration. The other half is exported, mainly to European markets, through its own sales offices in England and Germany and through distributors in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Denmark and Iceland.

The company was founded in 2007 and states that more than 9,000 chairs have been sold, in 11 countries, with a three-year warranty on new or upgraded chairs. Baldertech is owned by Norwegian investors and employees. The company's roots lie in HandPro, a local business that adapted cars for people with reduced mobility.
