About Audemic
Audemic Scholar converts research papers in PDF format into audio, with a reader that highlights text as it is read aloud, neural text-to-speech voices, highlights and notes synced across devices, and translation of papers into a chosen language. Audemic Insights, a separate product, provides concise summaries of research articles for non-academics. Accessibility options include speed control, a dyslexic font, background colour choices and reordering of paper sections.
The main customers are PhD students and researchers. Users start with a 7-day free trial and then subscribe to a paid plan on a monthly or yearly basis. The company also offers a mobile app on iOS and Android for trial and premium users.
Audemic was founded in 2022 and is backed by the Berkeley SkyDeck Fund. Its CEO and co-founder is Joshua Mitcham. The company is registered in Durham, United Kingdom, and its website states it has 40,000+ users. Recognitions include a win in the Next Gen Higher Education track of the 2022 Global EdTech Awards and selection for the AWS EdStart programme in 2023.
Product: Audemic Scholar, a web and mobile app that reads academic PDFs aloud, and Audemic Insights, a product offering summaries of research articles.
