About Εθνικός Οργανισμός Πρόληψης & Αντιμετώπισης των Εξαρτήσεων

EOPAE (Ε.Ο.Π.Α.Ε.) is a Greek national organisation for the prevention and treatment of addictions, addictive behaviours and dependencies. Its activities cover prevention, direct access and harm reduction, treatment, detoxification and rehabilitation, and social reintegration. Its services are public, free of charge and available without exclusions.

Services are delivered through 233 structures across the country and include detox and rehabilitation programmes, pharmacological treatment programmes, harm reduction programmes, prison treatment programmes and reintegration support. Telephone helplines cover psychological support, SOS and gambling counselling, and an online counselling platform is offered to adolescents. Care is provided by doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, therapists and educators.

Prevention and information offices operate in cities including Trikala, Volos, Chios and Heraklion, and the organisation runs prevention sessions in schools and universities. Its open positions at the time of the profile include nursing assistants in Heraklion and Messinia, psychiatry staff in Attica, and a volunteer work call.
