About Algenatura
AlgeNatura produces microalgae biomass in photobioreactors, to be used as protein, fatty acid and Omega-3 ingredients in livestock and fish farming feed. The company describes its process as taking CO2, water and energy inputs, cultivating strains in continuous production, then cell disruption, centrifuging and drying into a dry powder.
Its customers are feed producers in the livestock and aquaculture sectors. The company states it is building industrial-scale production facilities and plans to supply algae-based protein and fatty acids to the feed industry.
The company is based in Porsgrunn, Norway, and operates from Herøya, where it uses CO2 and wastewater from neighbouring industrial plants. It was founded in autumn 2020 by Algæ AS (Norway) and SagaNatura ehf (Iceland). Telemark Development Fund (TUF) support is mentioned as helping to deliver algae biomass.
Product: Dry microalgae powder and algae-based feed ingredients (protein, fatty acids, Omega-3) for livestock and fish feed
