About AGATE Sensors

AGATE Sensors develops solid-state hyperspectral sensors on a single chip, with no filters, gratings or moving parts. The sensing is software-defined, so one chipset can be programmed for several applications, and the design is built on mainstream semiconductor processes.

The company targets product developers in defence, advanced imaging and wearables. It names automotive, medical, industrial and robotics as further application areas.

AGATE Sensors was founded in 2024 and is headquartered in Espoo, Finland. Its founding team comes from Aalto University. In February 2026 it announced an innovation contract with the Swedish Defence Agency.

Product: Chip-scale, software-defined hyperspectral sensor for defence, imaging and wearable applications.
