Aboa Space Research

Aboa Space Research (ASRO) designs and builds space instruments, including compact modular space weather monitors with tuneable sensor heads and a miniature high-performance microscope for use in space laboratories and research platforms. Its work also covers radiation monitoring technology, including dosimetry development with the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) for human spaceflight.

The company serves scientific research and commercial space ventures. It has contributed instruments to ESA missions including BepiColombo, Solar Orbiter and ALTIUS. Its customers and partners are presented on its site, and the company also announced a partnership with Ethereal Space on space weather instrumentation supported by the ESA Commercialisation Gateway.

ASRO was founded in July 1999 as a spin-off from the University of Turku Space Research Laboratory and is headquartered in Turku, Finland, at the Tech Campus in Kupittaa, where its main office and laboratory are located. It also operates a newer facility with precision optics and machining workshops and laboratories for material analysis and subsystem integration. The company is hiring engineers, scientists and technical specialists and accepts open applications.
