About Aalto Haps

AALTO commercialises Zephyr, a lightweight solar-powered high-altitude platform station that flies in the stratosphere. Its services cover direct-to-device connectivity, Earth observation with optical payloads, and sovereign intelligence and communications capabilities for government and defence users.

Customers are commercial and government partners. For commercial and civil missions AALTO provides a fully autonomous service, including stratospheric navigation and direct service delivery from the platform. For military missions, Zephyr is handed over at a designated stratospheric point so that customer pilots can fly the mission. The UK Ministry of Defence was the first customer, purchasing three Zephyr platforms.

AALTO was founded in 2022 to commercialise Stratospace, and is headquartered in Farnborough, United Kingdom, where Zephyr production is based. Its operational base is AALTOPORT Kenya, a launch and landing facility in Laikipia County established in 2024. Airbus and a Japanese consortium led by NTT DOCOMO and Space Compass are shareholders. The company is hiring for engineering, flight test, programme management, production and finance roles in Farnborough.

Product: Zephyr, a solar-powered high-altitude platform station used for connectivity, Earth observation and government missions.
