About Wowza Media Systems
Wowza develops Wowza Streaming Engine, media server software that ingests, transcodes and delivers live and on-demand video over protocols including RTSP, RTMP, SRT, WebRTC and HLS. It can run on-premises, air-gapped, in private or public cloud, at the edge, or in Docker and Kubernetes, and offers APIs, an SDK and Java modules. The website also describes a Video Intelligence Framework for real-time AI processing of streams.
Customers named on the site include organizations in public safety, enterprise and government, aerospace and defense, live sports and esports, and OTT services, as well as developers who embed streaming in their own products. Revenue comes from software sold as one-time purchases, monthly plans and custom enterprise contracts, plus hybrid cloud services such as CDN, Flowplayer and analytics. Products are also sold through a partner ecosystem of resellers and distributors.
The company states it was founded in 2007 and has a team in the Denver area with a Belmar office in Colorado, alongside remote employees across the United States and in about 15 countries. Open positions listed on the careers page include a Senior Java Engineer, a Regional Channel Sales Manager and a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis.
