About Vinařství Obelisk
Vinařství Obelisk is a winery in Valtice, Czech Republic, that produces wine from its Hintertal vineyard on a south-west slope at the edge of the town and from grapes grown within three kilometres of the winery building, picked by hand. The vineyards grow Sylvan Green, Rhine Riesling, Pálava, Welschriesling, Blaufränkisch, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, and the winery matures some wine in Kvevri amphorae.
The website describes wine tasting and presentation areas that visitors can use and from which they can see part of the production and the maturing cellar. It does not describe its sales channels or customer segments in detail. The owner, František Fabičovic, also runs the Obelisk game reserve, where the winery is linked to restoration of the landscape along the Thaya (Dyje) river.
The winery building was designed by the architectural studio AiD (Pavel and Hana Bainar) and is set into the landscape near Valtice and the Lednice-Valtice complex. The presentation areas feature works by Czech-Ghanaian artist Natalie Perkof. The owners state a vision to manage up to forty hectares of vineyards in the future.
Product: Wines produced from the company's own vineyard and local hand-picked grapes, with tasting and presentation areas at the winery in Valtice.
