Smart wood Czech

Smart wood Czech, s.r.o. manufactures beech wood sticks (holders) for ice lollies, frozen creams and ice cream, which is the company's main production programme. It also makes beech wood briquettes from beech sawdust and shavings, sold as fuel for wood-burning stoves and boilers, and sells beech chips and firewood offcuts.

The company is part of the smart tree group, a French family-owned holding structure, and was founded on 11 May 1995 as CENTRAL STICKS s.r.o. under that name until its renaming to smart wood in 2017. Its plant is in Libčany, Hradec Králové district. Wholesale customers are served by a sales department, and the website lists a separate contact for large buyers of chips; the website states that the group has seven production plants in several countries.

The website describes the plant as running continuously, mentions in-house development of production equipment for sorting, milling and engraving sticks, and lists job openings for machine operators on 12-hour shifts.
