About Lightyear
Lightyear operates an investment app that lets retail customers in Europe buy stocks, ETFs, money market funds, bonds and crypto, with multi-currency accounts and automated investment plans. Savings vaults paying variable interest are also offered.
Customers are individual investors, plus businesses that invest through a company account. Revenue comes from per-order trading fees, a 0.35% currency conversion fee and a 48 EUR plus VAT annual LEI fee for business investors, according to the published pricing page.
Lightyear was founded in October 2020 by Martin Sokk and Mihkel Aamer, both early Wise (formerly TransferWise) employees. The company is headquartered in London and is regulated by the Estonian Financial Supervision Authority and the UK Financial Conduct Authority; its website states it operates in 25 countries and has helped over 300,000 users invest. Open roles listed include a Partnership Marketing Specialist in Tallinn and a Brokerage Operations Specialist in London.
