F&E

F&E GmbH is a Kiel-based service company that connects businesses and public institutions with research at HAW Kiel and other universities in Schleswig-Holstein. Its services cover testing and measurement, technology transfer and development projects, further education courses, and room rental at the Seefischmarkt in Kiel. It operates the FINO3 offshore research platform 45 nautical miles off Sylt, which it has run since August 2009, and holds the mandate to operate the FINO1 platform since 2012.

Customers are private companies, public institutions and research partners that commission projects. After an initial inquiry, the company prepares a requirements catalogue and an individual quote with a service description and timeline, and delivers a test or measurement report or a final project documentation. The company was founded in 1995 when the former technology representative of the Fachhochschule Kiel (now HAW Kiel) moved the university's transfer activities into a separate GmbH.
