Customers are private equity funds, hedge funds, consulting firms and corporate clients. The site says the company holds over 1 million data points across thousands of companies and a community of 200K+ experts, and it describes its revenue as coming from client access to that insight. Experts join for free and are paid by the project, through gift cards, bank transfer or charity donation.

Arbolus was founded in 2018 by Sam Glasswell and Will Leeming. The site lists offices in London, Barcelona, New York, New Delhi and San José, and says it closed a Series A round in 2022 and a $20m Series B in 2024. The company is owned by Collective IQ Group Ltd.
